Featured New Item

Kooltrak
Miniature Data Loggers, Software & Systems for Temperature

Compact, Stainless Steel Housings
Plot Temperature Histories on Pocket PC
Bolt-down Model Sensor-Logger (Enlarged view, of course)
Intro Kit for $200 with Sensor-Logger and Software

KOOLTRAK ™ Temperature logging systems are made up of compact, battery-powered one wire sensor-loggers (based on the Dallas Semiconductor's Thermochron iButton., featured in the January 2002 Whats New Page ) plus several software package options and networking capability to deliver temperature history data to Pocket PCs or laptops or to any computer, even over the Web!

KOOLTRAK data loggers are small and portable enabling one to monitor temperature in places never before possible and in places not even considered previously. KOOLTRAK™ database software is the core application required in most installations. This software programs loggers, collects data, builds and maintains the logger information database, produces reports, and performs a wide range of utility functions. Many applications need nothing more than this program for a complete solution. KOOLTRAK includes the program on cdrom, logger programming interface and cable, and an installation floppy disk. All documentation is in the form of html help files on the cdrom.

KOOLPAD™ data collection software runs on palmtop computers such as Compaq iPaq, HP Journada and Casio Cassiopeia PocketPC computers. Requires serial RS-232 cable with PocketPC.

Temperature recording data collected with KOOLPAD can be transferred to a KOOLTRAK database by synchronizing the PocketPC either locally or remotely, or by transferring the data as email attachments.

KOOLPAGE™ data display software is a versatile data display program that extends the range and types of reports that can be produced from the KOOLTRAK database. KOOLPAGE interrogates the database dynamically and produces reports which are continuously updated. Multi-logger displays, bar charts and other specialized forms of data presentation are available, and these reports update automatically to show the latest temperature data. KOOLPAGE produces reports as html pages, and these reports can be viewed over an internal network or over the internet with a standard browser.

KOOLPROBE™ network software is an add-on module that reads strings of loggers connected by the KOOLTRAK 2-wire network and displays their temperature data in a graphic image. In addition to directly monitoring temperature loggers in real time it will write temperature data to a KOOLTRAK database for later analysis and report generation. KOOLPROBE responds to "events" such as an over-temperature alarm, and takes actions such as displaying on-screen temperature alarms, causing an external alarm such as a light or siren, or even automatically generating a detailed email alarm message to a remote recipient or to another KOOLTRAK system!

KOOLSCAN™ is an add-on module to KOOLTRAK that allows logger temperature data sent by email to be automatically collected and processed into the KOOLTRAK database.

KOOLSTART™ facilitates programming large numbers of loggers with the same parameters. Compartment number and position number are automatically incremented each time the PROGRAM button is pressed, and the programming operation takes only a few seconds per logger.

When some customization is required, Kooltrack is ready to help. Software modules available cover applications like:

  • monitoring individual packages during shipment,
  • supervising networks of data loggers in coolrooms,
  • monitoring production conditions in growing houses,
  • creating internet web pages displaying temperature histories for colleagues or customers, and
  • automatically generating emailed text-message alarms on pcs cellphones.

Special introductory package.

Special offer: Purchase the KOOLTRAK Intropak. It contains Kooltrak database software on CD-rom, logger programming interface and installation disk, medium coiled touch-cable , and five mounted and programmed data loggers . A complete package that gets you started with temperature logging, data collection, and reporting for about $200. There is a very comprehensive manual and help system included on the cd.

Next Month's Plan

The new community-oriented web site www.tempsensor.net is moving along. Although not ready for prime time, it does have much of the structure and many new web links started. The main feature of the new site is the availability for user interaction and greatly improved site navigation. We shall continue the existing format in parallel while we continue to add modified versions of the local content to the new site. Many new users are visiting and bookmarks are growing. It may be useful for those who bookmark special pages to look over the new site and capture the equivalent page there, too.

COMMENTS and Alexa™ SITE RANKINGS

Notice to PR and Ad staffs in equipment and service companies:

Send us your new product, new staff, and related news releases, please and we'll get them into our queue for release on the site and/or the newsletter.

Listed below are the Alexa Web site rankings at the end of December and the preceeding two months. The rose color indicates that a site became less popular during the month, the green or aqua indicates more popular. The numbers provide a quantitative measure of the site popularity according to the Alexa ranking system. Needless to say, lower values mean more popular (like:"Yahoo is Number 1!").

It is interesting to note that rose is again the dominant color this past month. That's not good news, but could well be related to the seasonal focus on personal shopping rather than seeking technology-related web sites. However, a few sites seem to be bucking that possible trend. Global Spec.com continues to grow in popularity, last month about 10% worth, ASNT.org gained about *% in popularity. Omega Engineering dropped a surprisingly 10%. Raytek (+6%) and Ircon (+29%) , both IR thermometer companies, jumped upwards significantly, while strong competitorsLand Instrumentsand Mikron Instruments dropped 22% and 62% , respectively.Remember, there are rankings for sites out to more than the 38 million we mentioned last month. What is very surprising is the continued slide of Snell Infrared all the way this past month to the bottom of our rankings. The only site with some similar business is Flir.com , also down, but no where near as much, However, they sell products as well as training. We shall work to add a few more sites to our list, so as to monitor this segment more appropriately. (Note: the Alexa ranking for a similar site for December, The Infraspection Institute, was 1,456,240, placing them between Ircon and Mikron for the month. However, we don't have earlier data)

So, in context of a popularity rating, a position of 1 or 2 million doesn't seem so bad. However the rankings of sites of similar organizations competing for Web hits and exposure does seem to indicate at least relative success or lack thereof in attracting visitors. And we all know, or should know, the first rule of selling: Inform-tell them who you are and what you do. The Web is the lowest cost per prospect "informer"ever .

We believe companies can improve their visitor rate, sales and marketing operations, sales communications and generate more orders through proper focus on their Web resources. The Internet, especially the Web, is a revolutionary new marketing and business tool. We will be announcing after the first of the year a new Web site with resources for companies that want to improve their Web assets.

Note from the above Alexa ratings that our Web site consistently acheives a lower ranking (meaning it is more popular) than nearly all the vendors of temperature sensors, with the major exceptions of GlobalSpec and Omega Engineering. Although our site lost a little ground in November, we passed Flir, who dropped about 35% for some unknown reason and in December we fell about 23% while Flir dropped by a larger 65%.

Thanks for visiting.
