1. What's the difference between the What's New page and the e-Newsletter "TemperatureSensorNews"?

It was replaced when The Temperature Sensor Community website, http://www.TempSensor.net/ started publishing daily news items and archiving them in a searchable database. We believe that is a more user-friendly format. In addition, the news items are incorporated in the RSS feeds from the same site, so that one does not need to logon to view the latest temperature sensor news!

2. When did the site "About Temperature Sensors" begin?

The web site began in 1996 as a personal web site to supplement the course on Industrial Temperature Measurement developed and taught by Ray Peacock for the ISA. As the content and scope expanded he decided it would be worth having a distinctive URL or web address that people could find easier. In 1997 the name temperatures.com was registered by him and the site was moved to a different hosting company. In 2001 a corporation of the same named was formed to support the web site and offer additonal features thorough the site, such as consulting and additional training.

3. Does your site accept advertizing?

Yes, banner ads are accepted on the site as long as they are are not offensive to the majority of visitors.

4. Does one have to be an advertiser to get listed in a vendors page?

No, any web site containing information about temperature sensors, measurement and related topics and products is a candidate for a free listing and link on the site, however the wait can be long there are ways to speed up the process. See our "Add-A-Link page for more details. However, our companion site, The Temperature Sensor Community site at http://www.TempSensor.net/ has a free, self-service listing service for products and other announcement related to temperature sensors.

5. We didn't ask you to list our company, how did you find our web address?

We are constantly searching the web for related technical, product and service information and have developed many links to web sites before those running the sites ever discovered this site.

6. We are not listed; how can we get listed?

Merely fill in our feedback form. We will arrange to visit your web site to check that it really exists and does not contain what we would view as unrelated or offensive material. There is a wait as we are still mostly a one man band and quite busy. See our"Add-A-Link page page for details

7. I have a new product I'd like you to announce; how do I do that?

Again, our feedback form is very useful for this, too. We will review it in much the same way we review web sites. If it is what we deem interesting to our visitors, we will arrange to mention it somehow or somewhere on the site or in the newsletter. Please be patient with us though, we get mountains of requests for free publicity and we have to decide among lots of candidates and we may not get to yours immediately.

8. Will you publish or put a link on your site to a publication on ours?

If your publication is educational in nature or reports some significant finding or new product in the temperature sensor or measurement field, there is a good chance that we will put a permanent link to it on one of our educational pages. Please note that we expect you to keep the page or download available for several years without a chage in address. We have had significant "leaks" in content because some sites often change the addresses of their interesting pages. We are interested in lots of fundamental information and some of the most popular pages we have links to have been available for the five years that the site has been in operation! Also we have several times had to find replacement sites for some very basic information because the site managers have chosen to "update" their sites and have changed or eliminated very useful and informative pages in their quest for upgrading. We have no control over any site, but we strive to find those who put more than a catalog on the web and take a longer range view of their offering of free information content.

9. Do you sell temperature sensors?

Yes and no.We do not directly sell sensors, except under very special conditions, like a unique product available for resale. We wish to remain objective and independent. We, however, have links to pages on websites that do sell sensors and we even show some of general purpose, low cost sensors on some of our pages. We get a slight finders fee with each sale but we believe that does not interfere with our objectivity, since it is essentially advertising. We also accept advertising fees from equipment suppliersfor banner and text ads and we believe that the two activities are nearly identical and open to be seen by all. They do not indicate any endorsements or preferences for the products advertised.

We believe that advertising money from suppliers is a clear and seperate activity from reporting information and making recommendations in our consulting efforts; obvious to all.We work hard at being unbiased in our reporting and editorial activities. Our advertising and link activities are open and above board and we do not promote advertisers products, or recommend them any more or less, than any other product in our consultative and reporting practices.

10. Do you provide consulting services?

Yes. Please visit our business home page and learn more about those offerings.
